How to use Chrome Extensions to Increase Productivity

Taking advantage of these powerful Chrome Extensions can really help your small business.

Are you a small business owner who uses technology in their business and is looking to get ahead of the competition? Then you may want to be taking advantage of Chrome Extensions to increase productivity. Just after a few months of using some of these extensions, I have personally felt as though I’ve been more efficient in my work and been more likely to knuckle down with the stuff I’ve been putting off.

But with so many options it can be difficult to know which to use. So we’ve compiled a list of six Chrome Extensions that every entrepreneur needs to be using.

Grammarly

Grammarly is one of the best chrome extensions that I’ve been using for years now and is potentially one of the most well-known extensions, for good reason. Not only is Grammarly more advanced than most in spellchecking, but it also picks up on punctuation and grammar mistakes that you might make. What makes Grammarly most useful is that it can be used in almost any website with a text field. This gives you peace of mind knowing that the tweet you just posted didn’t have any mistakes in it, ensuring that you are always portrayed in a professional manner.

News Feed Eradicator

News Feed Eradicator is an extremely useful chrome extension for those who find themselves easily distracted by their social media feed whenever they open Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many others. News Feed Eradicator fixes this issue by replacing your feed’s content with one inspiring quote. This has no effect on your ability to make posts on what you see; you and your business can still be active on social media, just without the distraction of wanting to always check what everyone else is up to.

Buffer

Buffer is a great way to share great content to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn from anywhere on the web. This allows you to post articles you find whilst browsing directly to your social media. Furthermore, Buffer has a feature that allows you to schedule your social media content faster from anywhere on the web. The extension also works well for mirroring posts on multiple social media platforms. So your business can have a presence everywhere, increasing the number of eyes on you.

Midnight Lizard

On the subject of making content on the internet easier to read, Midnight Lizard is a must-have Chrome extension for any business that produces content online or spends hours researching. Midnight lizard allows for custom colour schemes for all websites including night mode, dark themes, blue light filter, screen shader, high contrast, grayscale, and many others. This can make looking at your screen for long periods of time much easier with less strain on your eyes. What’s more, is that if you need to have a website kept in its original colour schematic, then you can easily turn off Midnight Lizard for that individual page and keep your preset applied elsewhere.

Pocket

Pocket is another one of the useful chrome extensions that I often use when researching for a project. It makes it easy to capture articles, videos and anything else you find on the web to use later. With a simple click of a button, you can save a website to your pocket list that can then be reviewed and organised later. What really makes Pocket a must-have is that it allows you to seamlessly switch between devices. So a website that you find on your desktop can be easily opened on your phone after saving it to Pocket and opening it through their mobile app.

Mercury Reader

Mercury Reader strips away all of the unnecessary content from articles at the click of a button. Mercury Reader is a really great Chrome Extension as it removes ads and distractions, leaving only text and images; for a clean and consistent reading view on every site. There are also text size options as well as typography and a light or dark theme, that can be applied to any article, making reading as easy as possible. This is extremely helpful for those of us who find ourselves being frustrated and distracted by massive ads or pop-ups asking you to subscribe to an email in the middle of what is important, the content.

Get in Contact

Here at Sokada, we design websites where extensions like Mercury Reader is not required; we make content that is pleasurable to read. However from the looks of things we seem to be in the minority. It seems like every other website these days is packed with unwanted information that distracts you from the main content and makes the page slower to load. If you’re interested in having a bespoke website that will focus on appealing to the user, then get in contact with us on 01435 817 226 or drop us an email at enquiries@sokada.co.uk, alternatively fill out a short contact form here.
